How it came to be

I began my love of construction by hauling out drywall of the many houses my father fixed up for us. Later in my teenage years I had a summer job framing houses in the mountains of Colorado; and was hired to demo rotten decks. I learned to efficiently take things apart and with a great crash. After all, what good is being a teenager on your own in the mountains without destroying something.

Later in life I had the fortunate opportunity of working a little bit in every trade in the business from excavation, foundation, all the way up to the roof and everything in and out.

Sextant Designs came about after a failed attempt at a high end menswear line. I brought in elements of construction, sailing, motorcycles, and all things I loved. The clothing line fizzled out as I spent more and more time building in order to raise money to design more clothes. Years later I had realized it was creating that I loved. Construction is the only job that I get to look at in real time and see a physical manifestation of my hands, hard at work.

Here I am 24 years later…obsessed with getting better at what I do.
